Privacy Notice
In short
We collect and use some personal information so we can:
- run this website and keep it secure,
- respond to enquiries and deliver our services,
- keep in touch with clients and contacts about events or insights, and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We don’t sell your data. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run our business (like email, hosting, or analytics tools).
You’re always in control – you can opt out of marketing, ask to see what data we hold, or ask us to delete it. If you’ve got any questions, just email info@gcsinsight.com.
Who we are
This website (www.gcsinsight.com) is run by GCS Insight LLP (“GCS Insight”, “we”, “us”). We’re registered in England and Wales (OC420422). Our office is at 1 King William Street, London, EC4N 7AF.
For this website and for most of our business activities, we are the data controller (the organisation responsible for how your personal data is used). In some client projects we may act as a processor instead – if that’s the case, we’ll make it clear in our engagement terms.
Contact us at info@gcsinsight.com (subject line: Privacy) or by post to the address above.
What data we collect
1. Information you give us:
- Details you send through our forms, email, or over the phone.
- Information shared with us at meetings or events (e.g. business cards).
- Job applications and CVs.
2. Information we collect automatically:
- Basic technical details such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
- (Right now we only use essential cookies to run the site. In future, we may add analytics or marketing cookies – if we do, you’ll see a banner and this notice will apply.)
3. Information we collect automatically:
- Business contact details shared by clients or partners.
- Publicly available info (like LinkedIn or company websites).
We use this data either because it’s necessary for our contract with you, because we have a legitimate business interest, because you’ve given consent, or because we need to meet a legal obligation.
We don’t intentionally collect sensitive (“special category”) data or children’s data via this site.
Who we share your data with
We don’t sell your information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who work for us (e.g. website hosting, CRM, email tools). They can only use the data as instructed by us.
- Professional advisers, insurers, auditors, or regulators when needed.
- New owners or partners if our business is restructured, merged, or sold – but only under proper safeguards.
- Authorities if required by law.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. When they do, we use approved safeguards – like Standard Contractual Clauses plus the UK Addendum, or the UK-US Data Bridge – to make sure your information stays protected.
How long we keep data
We only keep your data as long as we need it. Typical times are:
- Marketing contacts: up to 3 years from last interaction, or until you opt out.
- Client and supplier records: 6–7 years (to meet accounting/tax rules).
- Job applications: usually 6–12 months unless we agree otherwise.
Security
We use appropriate security measures to protect your data – such as access controls, encryption in transit where possible, and staff confidentiality. No system is 100% secure, but we take steps to minimise risk.
Your rights
You can:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct, delete, or restrict it.
- Object to how we use it.
- Ask us to transfer it to another provider (where applicable).
- Withdraw consent if we’re relying on it (e.g. for marketing).
To exercise your rights, email info@gcsinsight.com.
If you’re unhappy with how we use your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk | 0303 123 1113 | Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
