GCS supports Generate Capital during its investment in GrowUp Farms

GCS (formerly GRAPH Strategy) is pleased to have provided Commercial Due Diligence to Generate Capital on its £100 million investment in GrowUp Farms, a UK-based vertical farming operator pioneering low-carbon, resource-efficient food production.
Founded in 2013, GrowUp Farms develops and operates next-generation vertical farms that combine renewable energy with proprietary growing systems to deliver high-quality, pesticide-free leafy greens at scale. The company’s facilities use 95% less water than conventional farming methods and are designed to reduce food waste by keeping produce fresher for longer.
The investment from Generate Capital, a US-based sustainable infrastructure investor, will fund the construction of GrowUp’s newest large-scale facility in Sandwich, Kent — its most advanced site to date — and accelerate rollout of its high-efficiency, low-carbon farms across the UK. The partnership aligns with Generate’s mission to back long-term, sustainable infrastructure projects that enhance resource efficiency and supply chain resilience.
GCS’s work focused on assessing the commercial opportunity for vertically farmed produce in the UK, the scalability of GrowUp’s business model, and its competitive differentiation within the controlled environment agriculture landscape.
The GCS team on the transaction was led by James Tetherton and Matt Harrison.
